Day 2: The Arts in New Orleans

On day two we headed down to Magazine Street, to the Shadyside Pottery, home of Charlie Bohn, potter extraordinaire. Charlie was Lloyd's student back in the day. His glazes are amazing, as you can see from the photos. Lloyd and NJ each purchased a pot and were proud to show them off at the end of the day. You can visit Shadyside Pottery on line here.

After lunch at La Madeleine, we headed to City Park to visit the New Orleans Museum of Art and the Besthoff Sculpture Garden. Lloyd and Kathie bought a print by renowned artist John Scott in the museum gift shop. John Scott was also a student of Lloyd's back in the day.

This sculpture is a pillar of cellos.

NJ like this photo -- a nice juxtaposition of a spider and love.
Lloyd found his favorite totem -- a turtle.

Oversize Mardi Gras beads brightened a tree in the garden.

Kathie likes standing beside the Mother and Child. It makes her feel downright willowy. :) There's nothing in the description of the statue that says anything about the little man the Mother is standing on. Hmmmm.

Having a nice chat with a quiet park visitor.

Dinner at Café Degas on Esplanade was delicious.

After a long day, it was good to get back home ... until the emergency vehicles began to arrive. It was an electrical fire in a building across the street. No injuries, thank goodness.
